Home Assistant MCP Setup Wizard

Runs the full ha-mcp server inside Home Assistant. Works on every Home Assistant installation type — Home Assistant OS, Supervised, Container, and Core.

1. Install HA-MCP Custom Component from HACS (the Marketplace on Home Assistant 2026.11+), then restart Home Assistant.
2. Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration, search HA-MCP Custom Component, and choose HA-MCP Server.
3. In the form, paste an Administrator access token (your profile → Security → Long-lived access tokens → Create token; your own works from anywhere if it leaks and the server's changes show under your name), or, safer, enter the user name and password of an account made just for HA-MCP under Settings → People with Local access only and Administrator on (never your own login), and HA-MCP creates its token. Then pick how clients may connect (this form is from version 9.0.0 (October 28, 2026); earlier versions show a shorter one). Both options start off, so a client on another device needs one of them: Remote access through Home Assistant — start with Secret URL (the connect URL is the credential, nothing else to set up; switch to Home Assistant sign-in later if you want a login) — and/or Network access: Local network for clients on your LAN. Leaving both off keeps the server reachable only from the Home Assistant machine. Submit — creating the entry starts the server.
4. Copy the connect URL from the entry's Configure screen (a notification points you there).
5. Paste it into your AI client — pick the client below for its exact config.
